Surgeon Misdiagnoses Tumor, Unnecessarily Removes Man’s Penis

Italy’s top medical authorities are looking into a surgeon after he wrongly amputated a patient’s penis after misdiagnosing him with a tumor.

After giving the patient, who was thought to be in his 60s, a cancer diagnosis, the 30-year-old urologist operated to remove the “tumor.”

According to reports, the penis removal procedure went off without a hitch until a subsequent examination revealed that there was never any reason for the surgery to have taken place.

The case happened at San Donato Hospital in Arezzo, Tuscany, in 2018, and the traumatized patient is now suing the doctor over the mutilation.

There is a preliminary court hearing scheduled for March in Arezzo.

This is not the first time a case like this has happened in France. In December last year,  the ‘total removal’ of a man’s penis took place the Nantes University Hospital after a series or errors.

The man said the surgery left him with just his testicles and where his member once was had ‘no feeling.’

‘He played Russian roulette with me!’ the victim in his 30s told local news publication France Bleu.

“I have hatred towards this doctor who did not listen to me,’ he said. “I’m terribly devastated, and it’s absolutely shameful.”

Local reports indicate that although the Frenchman’s attorney had hoped to obtain 1 million euros for his client, but he ultimately only received 62,000 euros (£55k) in damages.
