At 86 Year’s Old, Man is UK’s “Oldest First-Home Buyer”

At the ripe old age of 86, Edward Simon Jones achieved a major milestone: he purchased his very first home!

In the UK, the average age of a first-time homeowner is 34 years old – more than fifty years younger than Edward.

A £147,000 bungalow in Flintshire, Wales is now the proud abode of this determined senior citizen.

Before purchasing the bungalow, Edward resided at Marleyfield House, an assisted living facility.

He saw Marleyfild as a short-term residence only saying,  ‘I’m so excited to finally have a place of my own, I loved it at Marleyfield but I want to spend the remaining years I have in my own home.”

Lynne Palin, Edward’s niece, revealed how delighted he was to move into his own place. But she added that Marleyfield House would not be the same without him.

“He was known as being a real character, and a bit of a lady’s man – so no doubt he’ll be missed there.”
