Jodie Sweetin Defends JoJo Siwa Against Candace Cameron Bure’s Controversial Comments

It looks like the Tanner family is falling apart! Just kidding, but actress Candace Cameron Bure has unfollowed her former co-star Jodie Sweetin on Instagram after Sweetin defended JoJo Siwa against Bure’s controversial comments about “traditional marriage.”

It looks like Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin’s friendship might be on the rocks.

Bure, 46, and Sweetin, 40, grew up together and gained their fame while playing sisters on the sitcom “Full House” for eight seasons. More recently, they continued their roles on an updated version of Netflix’s “Fuller House.”

However, it seems like things have changed between the two actresses – at least from Bure’s perspective. She recently unfollowed Sweetin on social media platforms including Instagram and Twitter.

Bure, a devout Christian was attacked for her beliefs after she said in an interview that her new network would be focusing on projects with “traditional marriage” values.

Bure told WSJ Magazine of her fascination with GAC’s decision to leave Hallmark for network programming that is more soulful. “The company really resonated with me because they promote faith-based content and feel strongly about maintaining traditional marriage values,” Bure said of Great American Family.

Siwa, 19, and Bure have not had an easy relationship in the past as Siwa has been very negative and vocal toward Bure.

After Bure’s comment, Siwa shared a screenshot of an article titled “Candace Cameron Bure’s Plan For New Cable Channel: No Gays,” and expressed her shock at Bure’s comment. Burton called Bure a bigot in light of the news.

Apparently, some people think that practicing certain religions or having your own beliefs gives them the right to call others names. However, Bure responded with grace and simply stated, “I have a simple message: I love you anyway. To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality, or political party- including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling -I love you.”
