While looking for a suspect in a reckless driving case police received some unexpected help.
Police claim that during a traffic stop in South Carolina, a man later identified as 34-year-old Joshua Minton fled from Boone County officers.
After leading police and deputies from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office on a car chase, Minton abandoned his car and “fled into an uninhabited area,” according to a news release from Boone police.
While searching the area they came across a herd of cows who turned out to be of great help.
“Apparently cows do not want suspected criminals loitering in their pasture and quickly assisted our officers by leading them directly to where the suspect was hiding,” said a Facebook post by the police.
“The cows communicated with the officers as best they could and finally just had the officers follow them to the suspect’s location.”
After being located, Minton was charged with one count of felony driving while suspended, disorderly conduct, and running and eluding arrest with a vehicle. He will soon appear in court in Watauga County.
The police agency claimed in the news release that without the helping cows, the charges wouldn’t have been possible.
“We want to show our gratitude to the cows for their assistance in addition to thanking our cops and deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way,” they said.
