Robbery By Sharpie

In Chubbock Idaho, a man and a woman have each been charged with offenses after it was alleged that they threatened another couple into giving them money.

According to court documents, Karla Devinney, 32, of Bannock County, and De Von Farmer, 28, of Fort Hall, have both been charged with felonies for robbery and conspiracy robbery.

In the probable cause affidavit, Chubbuck police responded to a complaint reporting a robbery at a convenience store.

The caller allegedly followed the suspected offenders to a bus stop. Officers there discovered two individuals who matched the victims’ descriptions and detained them for interrogation.

The victims said when Farmer approached the victims’ car he shoved a Sharpie pen down the driver’s throat.

The victims informed police they had been panhandling and Farmer demanded they give him all of their cash.

According to the complaint, he warned the victims that they were panhandling “on his land” and that they would have to give him half of their earnings if they continued.

The victim was sitting in the passenger seat when a lady, later identified as Devinney, allegedly approached her, unlocked the door, and demanded the passenger’s pocketbook. Devinney allegedly removed an ID, a cell phone, and around .75 in  loose change from the victim’s purse.

According to the affidavit, Devinney informed the victims she would murder them if they called the police and read their home address from the ID aloud, something which worried the victims.

In the meantime, the police who had been holding Farmer and Devinney discovered Farmer in possession of a Sharpie.
