Austrian nudists are alarmed that plans for a new cable car would have it passing over a popular clothing-optional beach.
Nudist Barbara Hausjell was quoted by the nation’s Austria Press Agency (APA) that she feared for her privacy if cable car riders with mobile cameras were permitted to swoop through the area.
The 72-year-old said to APA, “I don’t want to end up on the internet.”
Hannes Dejaco, the project’s creator, tried to reassure beachgoers by claiming that the cable cars would only cross the beach briefly. He was quoted as suggesting that it was also possible to program the windows to automatically become opaque.
According to a promotional video for the project, the cable car would travel from the transit station in Heiligenstadt across the Danube River before returning to the Kahlenberg, a small mountain to the north of the city.Â
A “breathtaking view across Vienna” would be seen through the panoramic windows of some 115 gondolas.
