Pilot Climbs Through Window to Get Into Locked Cockpit

Being locked out is never enjoyable, whether that be from your house, car, or a commercial airplane.

According to Southwest Airlines, a passenger accidentally locked the flight deck door on Wednesday, forcing a pilot to scramble through a cockpit window.

As he prepared to board a flight from San Diego to Sacramento, passenger Matt Rexroad said that he noticed the pilot of the aircraft squeezing through a window.

“During the boarding process, while other Customers and Flight Attendants were onboard, a Customer opened the forward lavatory door and inadvertently pushed the Flight Deck door closed (which locked) while the Pilots scheduled to operate the flight were preparing to board the aircraft,” said a statement from the airline.

“One of our Pilots unlocked the door from a Flight Deck window, and the flight departed as scheduled,” they continued.

Rexroad posted the pictures he took on Twitter.

“It is amazing that this pilot went above and beyond to get this flight out. We only left 8 minutes late. Impressive effort by Southwest Airlines” said Rexroad.

“Well that is definitely something you don’t see every day,” said Southwest Airlines on Twitter.
