The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) announced the arrest of two women in relation to a theft from Sunglass Hut. Six women and one male are accused of robbing the shop of $50,000 worth of goods in less than a minute.
They fled the mall in two different automobiles, but one of them subsequently crashed and had to be towed away by police, according to SRPD. Despite the collision, all seven suspects managed to flee.
After further investigation, the detectives discovered that 19-year-old Arianna Torrey, of San Francisco, is the vehicle’s registered owner.
Torrey reported her car as stolen to the San Francisco Police Department when SRPD got in touch with her. Detectives later learned this was a lie.
Torrey and Destiny Nisby, another San Francisco resident, visited the SRPD station on Friday to pick up the former’s car, which had been towed. Later, while officers executed a search warrant for the women and for Torrey’s car, both were taken into custody/
Detectives from the SRPD later discovered stolen sunglasses worth over $13,000 inside Torrey’s vehicle, according to the department. Investigators think the sunglasses were also taken from other Bay Area stores.
Following an investigation, police gathered proof that Torrey was “directly involved” in the theft at Sunglass Hut, including digital evidence and security footage.
According to the SRPD, Nisby, and Torrey conspired in their fabrication over the tale of the stolen car.
