After slipping into the Naples Police Department and going exploring, a drunk man was arrested
36-year-old Joseph Moulton scaled the fence of the south parking lot and entered an unlocked patrol car. He stayed there until he saw folks leave the police department building. Moulton concealed himself in the nearby bushes and then made his move.
According to the police, Moulton grabbed a water hose, turned it on, and then directed its nozzle underneath a door. This caused at least an inch of flood damage.
Moulton made his way inside to the men’s changing area and helped himself to a shower and clothes.
A $900 bulletproof vest, uniform shirt, pants, and cap were taken. Moulton also dropped a police radio in the toilet, according to the police complaint, and defecated on the floor of the women’s restroom.
Local citizen Bill Tindel called Moulton a “ballsy guy” for causing issues inside a police station.
“Pretty strange,” he remarked.
Police weren’t made aware of Moulton’s behavior until he went to a nearby 7-Eleven. An employee noted Moulton’s suspicious behavior. Thinking he was drunk, the employee called the police.
Moulton was eventually tracked down by police and arrested. He acknowledged being drunk and said he couldn’t remember what he did.
Charges against him include two offenses of burglary and grand theft.
While they continue with their investigation, Naples police are not making any comments.
