According to police, a missing Texas woman was found alive last week. She was inside a Jeep that had crashed into a lake, one that was nearly completely submerged.
The unnamed woman was discovered inside a black car in Lake o’ the Pines, a reservoir on Big Cypress Bayou in Texas on Friday. She had gone missing from Longview, Texas, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The Jeep’s hood is just barely visible above the water in photos taken at the site. It was around 40 feet from the shore.
A fisherman notified authorities of the vehicle and they arrived about 18 minutes later.
While working to get the car ready to be towed out of the water using a boat, someone saw that there was a person inside the car. The person was moving.
According to Capt. Chuck Rogers of NPR, “We do not know how long the Jeep was in the water.”
The woman was rescued and taken to shore, where she waited until an ambulance arrived to take her to the hospital.
Her current state is unknown, and Longview police have offered little additional information regarding her disappearance or how she ended up in the lake.
However, Â according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office however, the Jeep apparently rolled into the lake unintentionally.
